Connecting Rod Processing Technology
When a production line requires conveying connecting rods from one end to the other over a long distance, the layout design becomes very important. One advantage of this special conveyor belt is that its sections – straight, right-angle bend, and S-shaped bend – can be assembled like building blocks. For example, if two rows of grinding machines face each other in the workshop, you can first use a straight section to lead out from the first row, then connect a right-angle bend section to turn the corner, and then another straight section to extend to the second row. S-shaped bend sections are suitable for going around obstacles such as columns or workbenches.
For long-distance conveying, support rigidity and spacing are key considerations. This conveyor belt uses a gantry support structure, and the maximum design spacing between supports is 1.6 metres. This value is calculated based on the weight of the belt itself plus the load of the connecting rods. If the spacing exceeds 1.6 metres, the middle section may sag, causing the V-shaped groove to become uneven, which in turn affects the stepping motion of the connecting rods. During on-site installation, it is advisable to space the supports at roughly 1.5 metres to leave a safety margin. In addition, when the total length of the conveyor line exceeds 10 metres, it is a good idea to add an auxiliary drive unit in the middle; otherwise, the power transmitted from one end may attenuate. Although the standard 0.25 kW motor is sufficient for most cases, the accumulated friction on a long-distance conveyor will increase, so this needs to be evaluated based on the actual length.
