Connecting Rod Machining Process: From Rough To Fine, Ensuring Engine Performance.

The connecting rod, a core transmission component in automotive engines, plays a crucial role in diesel engines. It effectively transmits the expansion pressure from the piston crown to the crankshaft, while simultaneously being driven by the crankshaft to compress the gas within the cylinder. The connecting rod must withstand significant dynamic load variations during operation. This component is intricately assembled from the connecting rod body and connecting rod cap, with the connection between the connecting rod body and the crankshaft relying on bolts and nuts in the large end bore.

 

To ensure the connecting rod's durability and ease of routine maintenance, a thin-walled metal bearing is specially fitted into its large end bore. Furthermore, a set of shims is cleverly incorporated between the connecting rod body's large end and the connecting rod cap to compensate for potential wear on the bearing. The small end of the connecting rod is tightly connected to the piston via the piston pin, and a bronze bushing pressed into its small end bore not only reduces wear but also facilitates subsequent repair and replacement.
